Can exercise cause facial or lip fillers to “dissolve” faster?

Dr. Aydin, MD, FACS, and his highly trained Physician Assistant and Nurse, use injectable fillers on the face and lips for many patients wishing to improve and enhance their aesthetic appearance.
A common question or concern from patients is if exercise will cause your body to metabolize or ‘dissolve’ your fillers faster.
Dr. Aydin states that there is no specific scientific evidence regarding that the fillers will dissolve faster with exercise. Many of the injectable fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are made of Hyaluronic Acid, which is a natural substance found in the body, will be absorbed by the body over time regardless of exercise. However, the absorption rate can also vary on how much filler was used, the location (under eyes, lips, cheeks, etc.) and the patient’s overall metabolism. One recommendation is that the patient should avoid exercise for the next few days following the injectable fillers to avoid bruising and swelling.
Aydin Plastic Surgery offers different brands and types of dermal fillers, like Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Radiesse, and more, commonly used to restore volume and/or soften wrinkles in the face, which can help eliminate the appearance of dark circles and bags under eyes or fill in the hollowed contours of cheeks. We also use fillers for lip augmentation to give lips a soft, smooth and fuller appearance.
