Time waits for no man or woman. The same can be said for gravity. Together, the two are in a constant battle with your figure. Sagging, loose, inelastic skin. Pockets of fat. Muscles that aren’t as taut as they once were. Everything is constantly being pulled downward.
Body contouring with Dr. Aydin can help you combat time and gravity across your entire body. Body contouring involves a combination of surgical procedures that eliminate fat pockets, firm up sagging areas, trim excess skin, and generally create a new, slimmer contour for your body.
Every body contouring procedure with Dr. Aydin is unique because each patient’s individual body is unique. Many different procedures can be involved in body contouring: breast lift; breast augmentation; breast reduction; liposuction; tummy tuck; and lifts of your upper arms, thighs, and lower body.
Who needs body contouring?
Body contouring is an involved combination of procedures that’s in response to one or more of these conditions: excessive weight gain and loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or repeated weight fluctuations.
Weight loss can be a two-sided coin. People usually only focus on losing the weight. But after they’ve done this, they are left with skin that can’t return to its previous level of tautness. Body contouring can bring the skin in line with your new weight.
But body contouring is not a weight loss procedure. Dr. Aydin wants his body contouring patients to be within 10% of their ideal weight and to have maintained that weight for a period of time. Why is this important? If you are still losing weight, you will have additional sagging skin, even after your contouring procedures. If you gain weight rapidly after your procedures, you will develop large scars and stretch marks on the sensitive skin that is still recovering from surgery. Body contouring patients really need to be dedicated to keeping their weight stable and following a healthy lifestyle and good diet.
Body contouring procedures
During your consultations with Dr. Aydin, the two of you will develop a plan for your body contouring. If your upper arms are loose, an arm lift will likely be a part of the procedure. If your breasts are too large and uncomfortable, a breast reduction may be one of the surgeries. Each patient is unique. Together, you will discuss your goals for the overall procedure. Obviously, expectations need to be realistic for what can be achieved and what cannot. In most procedures, excess skin will be removed, and muscle and tissue will be repositioned to gain a tighter, slimmer contour.
In addition to the more well-known procedures such as liposuction, breast augmentation/reduction/lift, and the tummy tuck, various lifts can be part of a body contouring procedure.
- An arm lift tightens and contours the upper arms.
- A lower body lift tightens and contours the abdomen, buttocks, groin, and outer thighs.
- A thigh lift contours and lifts inner, outer, and mid-thigh sagging.
After your surgeries, Dr. Aydin will place bandages and dressings on your incision sites. Drainage tubes will be placed where necessary. Where applicable, you’ll need to wear compression garments to reduce swelling and help your body adjust to its new contours. Recovery times are dependent on your procedures, but be assured that any strenuous activity will have to wait for at least six weeks. Still, one of the real benefits of having body contouring done by Dr. Aydin is that, while you may be having four or five different surgical procedures, you combine all of the recoveries into a single recovery, saving time, pain, and tissue trauma.
