Lymphatic Massage

Lymphatic Massage (Post-Surgical Massage)

If you need to have a post-surgical lymphatic massage, we would like to invite you to speak with our MedSpa team at Aydin Plastic Surgery in Paramus, NJ and White Plains, NY for recommended providers. We offer lots of TLC to our post-op patients at our practice, and our double board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Bill Aydin, highly recommends this treatment to his cosmetic and plastic surgery patients. After surgery, you may be feeling extra tired and sore from the procedure. a lymphatic drainage massage will help your body release and rid toxins to help speed up the healing process. A lymphatic massage therapist can manually manipulate your lymphatic system to relieve some of your pain, encourage blood flow, and reduce tissue inflammation post-surgery.

Treatment Technique

Using light pressure on the upper part of the ribcage, a lymphatic massage will help you while you inhale and exhale deeply. With moderate pressure, the massage therapist will engage your diaphragm muscles. Depending on the surgery you have recently had, the therapist will instruct you on how to position your body for the treatment. Your neck, abdomen, lymph nodes, legs, and back may be massaged with a light to moderate pressure to release toxins.

During/After Treatment

Once the massage is over, you should feel better than before your appointment. Many patients are so relaxed that they sleep through some of the massage. You should have a lifted mood, and more energetic. As your body releases harmful toxins for excretion, we suggest that you drink plenty of water to help the process along.

Am I candidate for Lymphatic massage?
The best candidates for lymphatic massage are patients who are suffering from pain, discomfort, fatigue, and have a weakened immune system. It is common to have a lymphatic massage after a cosmetic or plastic surgery to improve overall health.
