Pellevé Skin Tightening

Pellevé is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to create smoother, tighter skin without surgery. Pellevé precisely heats the deep layers of your skin using advanced radiofrequency (RF) energy without damaging the epidermis, or top layer. The heat causes the existing collagen in your skin to contract and tighten. Also after the treatment, your skin will start to produce new collagen. The result is an improvement in skin tightness and wrinkles you can see and feel for a naturally refreshed appearance.

Pellevé Skin Tightening Procedure

Pellevé has been proven to provide safe and effective skin tightening in medical studies. Because Pellevé is a non-invasive procedure, meaning no surgery is required, there are minimal side effects and discomfort. Unlike other systems, no anesthesia or skin cooling is needed during your Pellevé procedure, so you can return to home or work immediately following treatment. Nonsurgical skin tightening can be performed with ultrasound, radiofrequency or intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment systems. Pellevé uses radiofrequency energies to target and heat the deep skin layers and to make the body turn on its natural wound healing process. This stimulates the natural production of collagen and in the absence of a real injury, will improve the health of the skin, including increasing the elasticity and thickness of the skin. Radiofrequency skin tightening treatments, like Pellevé take about 45 – 90 minutes and can be used on the face and body. Depending on the needs of the patient, one or several treatments may be needed to achieve their best results.

You will feel a deep warming sensation each time the Pellevé handpiece touches the area being treated. Because no anesthetic is required, you’ll be able to describe the depth of the heat to your technician, which will help to ensure the best possible results. Your Pellevé procedure will typically take about 45 – 60 minutes for a full facial treatment. Because Pellevé doesn’t require anesthesia or downtime, it fits easily into your busy schedule. You should expect to be able to return to your daily activities with no downtime at all. Unlike lasers, there is no restriction from being in the sun (though sun protection is always encouraged) and you can also apply makeup immediately after the procedure. Some patients experience mild swelling and redness which typically goes away within 2 – 24 hours. Although many people start to see results immediately after the first treatment, most patients begin with a package of 3-4 treatments spaced about 30 days apart. Your doctor will recommend the right number of treatments for you.

Side Effects Of Skin Tightening

There are no serious side effects associated with laser skin tightening. Mild side effects, which are temporary, include redness; swelling; bruising; skin sensitivity; and changes in skin color. Any discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. We give our patients careful aftercare instructions to help them recovery fast and properly. Patients should drink plenty of water for at least a day after their treatment and if possible, avoid heavy exercise. Patients may notice redness, swelling, or numbness after their treatment, but this is temporary and shouldn’t last more than 1 week. Nonsurgical skin tightening does not provide instant results; patients will have to be patient and wait for the increased collagen production to slowly, but naturally improve their skin up 6 months after the treatment session.
