PRP and PRF Under-Eye Treatments at Aydin Plastic Surgery

The under-eye area is often the first place to show fatigue and age. The skin here is the thinnest on the face, so hollowing, darkness, and fine lines appear early and are hard to conceal. PRP and PRF treatments use growth factors drawn from your own blood to rebuild this delicate area from within. At Aydin Plastic Surgery, treatments are performed under the direction of double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. N. Bill Aydin, supported by our board-certified physician assistants.

What Are PRP and PRF?

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are both concentrated preparations made from a small sample of your blood. Each contains platelets and growth factors that stimulate collagen production, improve circulation, and thicken thin, crepey skin.

PRP: Platelet-Rich Plasma

PRP is created by spinning your blood at high speed to separate a concentrated layer of platelets. Once injected, it releases growth factors quickly, prompting the skin to repair and renew itself.

PRF: Platelet-Rich Fibrin

PRF is spun at a lower speed without anticoagulants, preserving a natural fibrin matrix along with platelets and white blood cells. The fibrin acts as a scaffold that releases growth factors slowly, extending the regenerative effect over days rather than hours.

What Is the Difference Between PRP and PRF for Undereyes?

The main difference is how each formula releases its growth factors. PRP delivers a rapid burst, while PRF provides a slower, sustained release and a light volumizing effect from its gel-like consistency.

Many patients benefit from PRF under the eyes because it adds subtle plumpness to hollow areas while it works. During your consultation, our team will recommend the option best suited to your skin and goals.

What Under-Eye Concerns Can PRP and PRF Improve?

These treatments address several common under-eye complaints, including:

  • Dark circles caused by thin skin and visible vessels
  • Mild hollowing and a sunken, shadowed appearance
  • Fine lines and crepey skin texture
  • Dull, tired-looking skin quality
  • Early volume loss in patients not ready for filler

Because both formulas come from your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reaction to the product itself.

What Happens During a PRP or PRF Under-Eye Treatment?

Your visit to our Paramus office begins with a quick blood draw, similar to routine lab work. While numbing cream takes effect, your sample is spun in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP or PRF.

The concentrate is then injected into the under-eye area with a fine needle or cannula. The full appointment typically takes 45 to 60 minutes, and most of that is preparation time.

Is There Downtime After Treatment?

Downtime is minimal. Expect mild swelling, redness, or pinpoint bruising for a few days. Most patients return to work the next day and cover any bruising with concealer after 24 hours.

When Will I See Results From PRP or PRF?

Results build gradually as new collagen forms. Many patients notice brighter, smoother skin within three to four weeks, with continued improvement over three months. For best results, we typically recommend a series of two to three sessions spaced about a month apart, followed by annual maintenance.

Am I a Candidate for PRP or PRF Under-Eye Treatment?

Most healthy adults with dark circles, thin skin, or mild hollowing are excellent candidates. Patients with deeper hollows may do better with under-eye filler, and those with significant puffiness or loose skin may be candidates for blepharoplasty with Dr. Aydin. Some patients combine PRP with microneedling for added texture benefits.
